# --- Introduction Chapter ------------

STR_INTRO_1 :Introduction{}{}Hello, and welcome to this in-game OpenTTD tutorial!
STR_INTRO_2 :Chapters:{}{}The tutorial contains the following chapters. They are designed to be played through in order, but after each one you will also be asked if you want to move to any one of the other chapters.{}{}0. Introduction (This Chapter){}1. Navigation{}2. Aircraft{}3. Ships{}4. Lorries{}5. Buses{}6. Trains (Incomplete)
STR_INTRO_3 :How the Tutorial Works{}{}In blue message windows, like this one, you will be presented with instructions to follow. In some cases, you will need to click on the "Continue" button to progress; in other cases, the tutorial is capable of checking if you have done the task that you have been asked to do. In the latter case, the button will say "Close" instead of "Continue" and the tutorial will progress automatically when you have accomplished the task.{}{}During the tutorial, you might see white news messages appearing at the bottom of the screen, grey finances windows or a different blue window which asks you if you would like to try a new vehicle. These do not belong to the tutorial, but cannot be disabled - if they appear, just ignore them or close them. News messages can be closed by hitting the space bar on your keyboard, other windows by clicking the cross in the top-left corner.

# --- Navigation Chapter ------------

STR_NAVIGATION_1_1_1 :Navigation - Navigating the Map{}{}In OpenTTD, there are several ways to navigate the map:{}- Hold your right mouse button, then move your mouse while continuing to hold.{}- Use the arrow keys to move the screen up, down, left and right.{}- Move the mouse to the edge of the screen. (Note that this requires the setting "Pan window when mouse is at edge", under Interface - Interaction in the Advanced Settings, to be set to a setting other than disabled. This can be done while playing.)
STR_NAVIGATION_1_2_1 :Zooming{}{}When exploring the map, it is sometimes useful to zoom out, then later zoom back in to make building easier.{}{}In OpenTTD you can zoom using:{}- The zoom in and zoom out buttons, highlighted in the main toolbar.{}- The scroll wheel on a scroll wheel equipped mouse.{}- The + and - keys on your keyboard.
STR_NAVIGATION_1_3_1 :The World Map{}{}It is also possible to see an overview of the whole world in a separate window. Click on the highlighted button in the main toolbar to open it.
STR_NAVIGATION_1_3_2 :This new window shows the world map. It can be navigated using the right mouse button, in the same way as the main screen.{}{}Using the buttons below the map, it is possible to change what is displayed on the map. The default view is a relief map - this can be changed to several things, including a colour coded industry map (by clicking on the factory symbol) and a colour coded infrastructure map (by clicking on the road and rail symbol). The map's key is also shown on this bottom panel.
STR_NAVIGATION_1_4_1 :Main Toolbar Menus{}{}When you opened the world map window, you may have noticed that a new menu briefly appeared on the screen. In addition to the default action, many of the main toolbar buttons also have secondary functions which are accessed by clicking and holding the left mouse button to show a menu. To open one of these secondary items, keep holding the left mouse button and move the mouse down to the item you want. Release the left mouse button to select this item.{}{}During this tutorial, if one of these menus is needed you will always be specifically told. However, it is worth remembering this for gameplay outside the tutorial.

# --- Aircraft Chapter ------------

STR_AIRPLANES_2_1_1_INTRO :Aircraft - Building an Airport{}{}In this chapter, you'll be shown how to transport passengers between two towns using aircraft. You'll start by building an airport in {GOLD}{TOWN}{BLACK}. When you click on continue, the main viewport will move to {GOLD}{TOWN}{BLACK}.
STR_AIRPLANES_2_1_2_PLACEMENT :You're going to build your first airport near this town. Click on the highlighted buttons, starting on the main toolbar.
STR_AIRPLANES_2_1_3_ACCEPTANCE :To get the greatest number of passengers at your airport, you want to have as much of the town as possible within its coverage area. The small airport has a coverage area radius of four tiles, which can be displayed using the GUI. Click on the highlighted button.
STR_AIRPLANES_2_1_4_ACCEPTANCE :At the bottom of the airport selection window, there are two lines of text. One starts with "Accepts", while the other starts with "Supplies". After this, those cargo types which are currently available in the coverage area will be displayed, both for collection ("Supplies") and delivery ("Accepts"). It's important to place your airport where it will both "Accept" and "Supply" passengers.
STR_AIRPLANES_2_1_5_PLACE_AP :Move your cursor so that the white squares are on a flat area with no buildings or roads. Any trees will be removed automatically. Make sure that the blue squares, which show the coverage area of the airport, cover as much of the town as possible. Click on the ground to build the airport.

STR_AIRPLANES_2_2_1_WHERE :Aircraft - Building a Second Airport{}{}To be able to transport passengers, they need somewhere to go. For them to be able to do this, you'll need to build a second airport. This airport should be built a reasonable distance away from the first one, as passengers generally pay your company more the further they travel. The airport should also be built near a town with a similar population size to the first one, as this means that there will be an equal number of passengers going in each direction. On this occasion, you should build your airport near {GOLD}{TOWN}{BLACK}. When you click on continue, the main viewport will move to {GOLD}{TOWN}{BLACK}.
STR_AIRPLANES_2_2_2_BUILD :To build your second airport in {GOLD}{TOWN}{BLACK}, follow the same steps as when you built the first airport in {GOLD}{TOWN}{BLACK}, as shown by the highlighted buttons.

STR_AIRPLANES_2_3_1_HANGAR :Aircraft - Buying an Aircraft{}{}Now you're ready to buy your first aircraft. Click on the hangar building, shown by the sign "Hangar" in the airport.
STR_AIRPLANES_2_3_2_BUY :In OpenTTD, the aircraft is bought first, and you then assign orders to it. Click on the highlighted button to select an aircraft to buy.
STR_AIRPLANES_2_3_3_SELECT_AIRCRAFT :In this window, the aircraft available for you to buy are displayed in the top half, while the specifications for the selected aircraft are displayed in the bottom half. Select an aircraft by clicking on it, then clicking on the highlighted button to buy it. On this occasion you may want to select the Coleman Count, as this has the highest capacity of the available aircraft.
STR_AIRPLANES_2_3_4_ORDERS :Next, you'll need to assign orders to your aircraft so that it knows where to go. Click on the highlighted button to open the orders window for the aircraft.
STR_AIRPLANES_2_3_5_ORDERS :Click anywhere on the airport in {GOLD}{TOWN}{BLACK}, excluding the hangar. This gives an order to the aircraft to go to this airport, and load any passengers and mail which are waiting when the aircraft arrives.
STR_AIRPLANES_2_3_6_STATION_LIST :To get back to your first airport, you can use the station list window, which shows a list of all of your stations. Click on the highlighted button on the main toolbar.
STR_AIRPLANES_2_3_7_STATION_LIST :Click on {YELLOW}{STATION}{BLACK} in the list to go to your first airport.
STR_AIRPLANES_2_3_8_ORDERS :Now, in the main viewport, click anywhere on {YELLOW}{STATION}{BLACK}, excluding the hangar.
STR_AIRPLANES_2_3_9_CLOSE_ORDER_LIST :Now your aircraft has been given its orders.{}{}Close the orders window using the cross.
STR_AIRPLANES_2_3_10_START_AIRCRAFT :The final step is to start your aircraft. Click once on the highlighted horizontal button in the aircraft's window to start it.

STR_AIRPLANES_2_4_1_SUM_UP :Aircraft - Station Window and Vehicle Details Window{}{}You have now completed your first transport route in OpenTTD. Before moving onto the next chapter, you'll be shown how to look at some more detailed information about your route.{}{}To see the number of passengers and the amount of mail waiting at an airport, click anywhere on the airport, excluding the hangar.{}{}Note that no passengers will be waiting at your airport, and that your company will have no rating at the airport, until your aircraft arrives for the first time. If this is the case, you could either wait for your aircraft to arrive, or try navigating back to your other airport to see the rating and waiting passengers there.
STR_AIRPLANES_2_4_2_STATION_WINDOW :This is the station window. In this window, the cargo waiting to be collected from the airport is displayed above the line. Knowing how many people are waiting at your airports is an important factor in deciding when you should buy another aircraft.{}{}Below the line, the different cargo types that the airport accepts are displayed. These are the cargo types which can be delivered to this airport from another one. If you click on the "Ratings" button, this area will change to display the rating of your transport company for the different cargo types at this airport.
STR_AIRPLANES_2_4_3_AIRCRAFT_PROFIT :Another useful piece of information to know is whether or not your aircraft is making a profit, and how many passengers are being carried by the aircraft. Click on the highlighted button in the aircraft window to see the aircraft's details.
STR_AIRPLANES_2_4_4_AIRCRAFT_PROFIT :In this window you can see several pieces of information about your aircraft, including yearly profit, how much cargo is currently loaded and its capacity. You may notice that your aircraft is carrying mail as well as passengers. This is because most aircraft also have a small mail capacity in addition to their passenger capacity.{}{}If you would like to rename your aircraft or change its service interval, you can do this using the controls in this window.
STR_AIRPLANES_2_4_5_DONE :You have now completed the aircraft chapter of the tutorial.{}{}Take a look at your aircraft in operation. If you would like to, you could try adding another aircraft to the same route. When you feel ready to continue with this tutorial, either click on "Continue" or close this window and all other windows by pressing the DELETE button on your keyboard.

# Displayed only if Quick Orders are disabled in Advanced Settings
STR_AIRPLANES_CLICK_GO_TO :Click on the highlighted "Go To" button.

# Waiting messages - these are displayed when the tutorial has been waiting some time for the user to complete an action
STR_AIRPLANES_NOTICE_WAITING_FOR_AP_BUILD :The tutorial is waiting for you to build an airport in {GOLD}{TOWN}{BLACK}.
STR_AIRPLANES_NOTICE_HANGAR_ORDER :You have clicked on the hangar, not on the airport. The incorrect order you have just created can be deleted by following the instructions below.{}{}1. Select the order concerning the hangar in the order window by clicking on it.{}2.Click on the "Delete" button in the order window.{}3. Click on the "Go To" button.{}4. Try to add an order to go to {YELLOW}{STATION}{BLACK} again by clicking somewhere on the airport other than the hangar.
STR_AIRPLANES_NOTICE_START_VEHICLE :The tutorial is waiting for you to start your aircraft

# --- Ships Chapter ------------

STR_SHIPS_3_1_1 :Ships - Building a Dock{}{}In this chapter, you'll be shown how to transport oil from an Oil Rig to an Oil Refinery using a ship. First, you'll need to build a dock next to the Oil Refinery. When you click on continue, the main viewport will move to the Oil Refinery.
STR_SHIPS_3_1_2 :First, you need to build a dock for the Oil Refinery. Click on the highlighted button on the main toolbar to open the waterways construction window.
STR_SHIPS_3_1_3 :Click on the highlighted button. Position the dock near the Oil Refinery on a tile which slopes down to the water, making sure that the catchment area covers enough of the Oil Refinery for the dock placement window to display "Oil" in the accepted cargos. OpenTTD will highlight the nearest water tile if a dock can be built. To build the dock, click on the sloping tile.
STR_SHIPS_3_1_4 :Your dock has now been built.{}{}If you then click on the dock, the station window will open up. You may notice that it is very similar to the station window for the airport, with the same buttons. Try moving away from the dock until it is no longer visible in the main viewport. If you click on the "Location" button in the station window, the main viewport will centre on the dock again.{}{}Click on continue when you are done with experimenting with the dock station window.

STR_SHIPS_3_2_1 :Ships - Building a Ship Depot{}{}Buying ships is very similar to buying aircraft. However, while aircraft are bought from a hangar on the airport, you need to build a separate ship depot to buy your ships from. Click on the highlighted buttons, starting on the main toolbar.
STR_SHIPS_3_2_2 :Position the ship depot on the water near to the dock. However, make sure that you do not block the dock with the shipyard. Click to build the ship depot.

STR_SHIPS_3_3_1 :Ships - Buying a Ship{}{}Click on the ship depot to open the depot window. Then, click on the highlighted buttons to buy a ship which is capable of transporting oil.
STR_SHIPS_3_3_2 :Close the depot window, but leave the ship window open.{}{}Now you are going to assign the ship some orders. When you click on continue, the viewport will move to the Oil Rig.
STR_SHIPS_3_3_3 :You may have realised that you haven't built a dock by the Oil Rig. However, you won't have to do this as Oil Rigs, uniquely in OpenTTD, have their own in-built station.{}{}Click on the highlighted buttons to give orders to your ship to go first to the Oil Rig ({YELLOW}{STATION}{BLACK}), then to the refinery dock ({YELLOW}{STATION}{BLACK}).{}{}Note that you will have to click on the tile marked as "Dock Tile" on the Oil Rig to give the ship the order to go to the Oil Rig.

STR_SHIPS_3_4_1 :Ships - Complex Orders{}{}Press the highlighted button to make the ship start moving. Then, hold the TAB key on your keyboard to enable fast-forward of in-game time. Keep holding TAB until the ship has left the Oil Rig for the second time.
STR_SHIPS_3_4_2 :Now you're going to look at how much oil your ship is carrying. Open the ship's details window by clicking on the highlighted button.
STR_SHIPS_3_4_3 :You should see that although your ship is carrying some oil, it is not at full capacity. This means it is not working at a maximum profit. You can change this by adjusting your ship's orders.{}{}Close the details window by clicking the cross, then click on the highlighted button in the vehicle window to open the ship's order window.
STR_SHIPS_3_4_4 :Now click on the order for the Oil Rig ({YELLOW}{STATION}{BLACK}).
STR_SHIPS_3_4_5 :At the bottom of the order window, you should notice two rows of buttons. The buttons on the bottom row are used to add and delete orders, while those on the top row are used to change existing orders. You are going to order your ship to keep loading oil until it is at full capacity. This is done using a button on the top row.
STR_SHIPS_3_4_6 :Click on "Full Load Any Cargo".
STR_SHIPS_3_4_7 :You should notice that the order for the Oil Rig has changed. When your ship next reaches the Oil Rig, it will keep loading oil until it is at full capacity. This will, however, take a lot more time.

STR_SHIPS_3_5_1 :Ships - Canals{}{}Your first ship should now be running at the best possible profit for its route. There is a second Oil Rig in a lake to the north of the refinery, which could be used to increase your profits. There is a problem, however - the lake is not connected to the sea, and so any ships will be unable to travel between the second Oil Rig and the Oil Refinery.{}{}There are two methods you could use to create a route that the ship could use to reach the second Oil Rig. The first is to simply lower the land to create a path which joins the lake to the sea. The second is to build a canal for your ships to travel to the sea on. In this section of the tutorial, you are going to build a canal - landscaping will be covered in a later section.
STR_SHIPS_3_5_2 :Click on the highlighted buttons, starting on the main toolbar, to select the "Build Canals" tool.
STR_SHIPS_3_5_3 :Now, change the view in your main viewport until you can see the signs that suggest a path for your canal.{}{}Click and hold with your left mouse button on the suggested start point, then drag to the suggested end point and release to build your canal. It is important that you start and end at the suggested points, or the tutorial will not recognise your canal and will be unable to acknowledge that you have completed your task.
STR_SHIPS_3_5_4 :Click on the highlighted button to select the "Build Lock" tool.
STR_SHIPS_3_5_5 :Locks allow ships to move to a waterway which is higher or lower than its current position. They can only be placed on sloped tiles. You should notice that when you hover over a sloped tile with the "Build Lock" tool selected, not only does it highlight the tile you are hovering over, but also two of the neighbouring tiles (in this instance, one sea tile and one canal tile). Similar to the dock construction, the highlighting tells you if a lock can be built at this point. Build a lock at both ends of your canal by clicking at each of the designated points.
STR_SHIPS_3_5_6 :Disable the "Build Lock" tool by hitting the ESCAPE key, then close the waterways construction toolbar.{}{}You can now build another ship to transport oil from the second Oil Rig to the Oil Refinery. It may be a good idea to order this ship to full load oil as well, as this will ensure your company gets the maximum possible profit.{}{}No buttons will be highlighted as reminders for this ship. Follow the same sequence as you did for your first ship, starting by clicking on the shipyard. Buy a suitable ship, then give it its orders, remembering to send it to the second Oil Rig. Select the Oil Rig order, then click on "Full Load Any Cargo". Finally, start your ship.

STR_SHIPS_3_6_1 :You have now completed the ships chapter of the tutorial.{}{} There is another Oil Rig to the southwest of the refinery. If you would like to, you could try building another ship to connect this Oil Rig to the refinery. When you feel ready to continue with this tutorial, either click on "Continue" or close this window and all other windows by pressing the DELETE button on your keyboard.

# --- Lorries Chapter ------------

STR_TRUCKS_4_1_1_INTRO :Lorries - Industry Chains{}{}In this section you will learn about primary industries, secondary industries and industry chains. Some industries, such as Oil Rigs, produce their products regardless of whether or not they are being serviced. These industries are known as primary industries. Other industries, such as Oil Refineries, must be serviced before they are able to produce anything. When you click on continue, the main viewport will move back to the first Oil Rig.
STR_TRUCKS_4_1_2_CHAINS_OPEN :An industry chain consists of one or more primary industries and one or more secondary industries which use the products of the primary industries to produce its own products. As an example, you will now learn about the Oil Rig industry chain. Click on the Oil Rig anywhere except the back where the station is located.
STR_TRUCKS_4_1_3_CHAINS_OPEN_2 :Now click on the highlighted "Display chain" button.
STR_TRUCKS_4_1_4_CHAINS_INFO :In this view, you can see that Oil, represented by the purple colour, can be transported from an Oil Rig to an Oil Refinery. Now click on the Oil Refinery box in the industry chain window.
STR_TRUCKS_4_1_5_CHAINS_INFO_2 :In this window, you can see that Oil Refineries produce Goods which can then be transported to towns. In the remainder of this chapter, you will be constructing a road route that allows you to transport Goods from the refinery you are servicing to a nearby town using lorries.{}{}Close the industry chain window using the cross.
STR_TRUCKS_4_1_6_FROM_REFINERY :You will be transporting the goods from this refinery ...
STR_TRUCKS_4_1_7_TO_THIS_TOWN :...to this town.{}{}If you zoom out, you will be able to see the refinery in the bottom right corner of your screen.

STR_TRUCKS_4_2_1_BUILD_STATIONS_INFO :Lorries - Lorry Stations{}{}To transport goods from the refinery to the town, you will need to build two stations - one near the refinery where your vehicles will collect the goods, and one in the town where the goods will be delivered. You will build the station in the town first.{}{}Select the "Road Construction" toolbar using the highlighted button on the main toolbar.
STR_TRUCKS_4_2_2_BUILD_TRUCK_STATION :Select the "Build Lorry Station" tool using the highlighted button.
STR_TRUCKS_4_2_3_BUILD_ON_TOP :In the new window, you may notice that there are two different types of lorry stations - one which comes in four different orientations and one which comes in two different orientations and is highlighted. This highlighted type is a drive-through station, and differs from the other type in that it allows lorries with trailers and can be built on an existing road (if allowed by the advanced settings. This is the case in this tutorial, but may not be on some multiplayer servers).{}{}Build a drive-through station on one of the existing roads in {GOLD}{TOWN}{BLACK} by selecting one of the orientations and clicking in an appropriate place. Make sure that the orientation of the station is the same as the road you are building it on, and that the station accepts goods. The station is more likely to accept goods the closer it is to the centre of the town, the position of which is shown by the town name sign.

STR_TRUCKS_4_3_1_OIL_REFINERY_STATION :You now need to build another lorry station near the Oil Refinery where your vehicles will be able to collect the goods. This time, you should try building the other type of lorry stations, known as a bay station. Ensure that the Oil Refinery is within the catchment area of your new station.
STR_TRUCKS_4_3_2_BUILD_TRUCK_STATION :Select the "Build Lorry Station" tool using the highlighted button.
STR_TRUCKS_4_3_3_BUILD_TRUCK_STATION2 :Select one of the highlighted loading bays. Click on the ground to build it.

STR_TRUCKS_4_4_1_ROAD_INFO :Lorries - Road Construction{}{}Now that you have built your lorry stations, you need to build a road that will connect them. Unlike other vehicles, road vehicles are able to travel on any road, regardless of the road owner. This means that you will only need to connect your lorry station by the Oil Refinery with the town roads.{}{}Click on the highlighted "Road Construction" button on the main toolbar.
STR_TRUCKS_4_4_2_AUTO_ROAD :Click on the highlighted "Auto-Road" tool. This tool allows you to build road in both of the directions in which it is possible to build road.
STR_TRUCKS_4_4_3_CONNECT_ROAD :Road is built by clicking and holding with the left mouse button at your desired start point, then dragging to your desired end point and releasing the mouse button there. Road can only be dragged in straight lines, so you may have to build several sections to connect your lorry station to the town's roads. Build a road which connects the town's roads with your lorry station.

STR_TRUCKS_4_5_1_ROAD_DEPOT :Lorries - Road Vehicle Depots{}{}Similarly to ships, you have to build a separate road vehicle depot to allow you to buy road vehicles.{}{}Click on the highlighted button, then click near the Oil Refinery to build your road depot. If you build it with the entrance facing a road, it will be automatically connected to the road. If it is not connected to the road, you will need to use the “Auto-Road” tool to connect the depot to the road, ensuring that you connect the road to the entrance.{}{}The tutorial will continue automatically when you have built a depot within a 10 tile radius of the refinery lorry station and connected it to the road so that the lorry station can be reached by any road vehicles travelling from the depot.

STR_TRUCKS_4_6_1_VEHICLES_INFO :Lorries - Buying a Lorry{}{}You have now built the necessary infrastructure for your transport route. You now need to buy your first lorry.{}{}If you have the road building tool active, disable it by hitting the ESCAPE key, then click on the road vehicle depot to open the depot window.
STR_TRUCKS_4_6_2_BUILD_VEHICLE :Click on the highlighted button.
STR_TRUCKS_4_6_3_BUILD_TRUCK :Select and buy a vehicle that can transport goods. The {ENGINE} is a suitable vehicle.
STR_TRUCKS_4_6_4_ORDERS :You now need to assign your lorry its orders. As with the second ship, the buttons will not be highlighted during this process. Ensure that your lorry is set to "Full Load" at {YELLOW}{STATION}{BLACK}.{}{}Tip: If you hold the CTRL key while assigning a go to station order, it will automatically set full load for that order.
STR_TRUCKS_4_6_5_START_TRUCK :You can now close the order window.{}{}As before with the ships and aircraft, having given your lorry its orders, you should start it using the large horizontal button in the vehicle window.

STR_TRUCKS_4_7_1_CLONING_INFO :Lorries - Cloning Vehicles{}{}Your first lorry is now transporting goods between the Oil Refinery and {GOLD}{TOWN}{BLACK}.{}{}All of the different transport types in OpenTTD have advantages and disadvantages. One of the disadvantages of road vehicles is that they tend to have a low capacity, and so if you are servicing an industry which has a high production rate, you will need a large number of road vehicles to transport the majority of the cargo and boost your station rating. However, there is an easy way to increase the number of vehicles on a route. This is known as cloning.{}{}Click on the road depot.
STR_TRUCKS_4_7_2_CLONE_BTN :Click on the highlighted "Clone Vehicle" button.
STR_TRUCKS_4_7_3_CLICK_VEHICLE :Click on your existing lorry. You can use the arrow keys to move the viewport around if you need to find it.
STR_TRUCKS_4_7_4_CLONE_RESULT :You have now bought a vehicle of the same type which has the same orders - in other words, an identical copy of your original vehicle.
STR_TRUCKS_4_7_5_START_CLONE :Start your cloned lorry from its vehicle window.
STR_TRUCKS_4_7_6_SHARED_ORDERS_INFO :It is also possible to create a cloned vehicle with shared orders. When the orders are shared, they will maintain this identical state. This means that if you change the orders for one vehicle, all other vehicles that share these orders will also be updated.{}{}To create a clone with shared orders, hold down the CTRL key while cloning.{}{}Now, make a second clone with shared orders:{}1. Start by clicking on the depot if the depot window is not already open{}2. Then click on "Clone Vehicle".{}3. Click on the one of your existing trucks while you hold the CTRL key pressed.
STR_TRUCKS_4_7_7_CLONE2_VIEW_ORDERS :You have now created a second clone, hopefully with shared orders. To check if a vehicle have shared orders or not, we can open the orders window.{}{}Click on the orders button in the vehicle window for your new clone (highlighted).
STR_TRUCKS_4_7_8_CLONE2_RESULT :At the bottom of the order list that there is a line that should show "-- End of Shared Orders --". This will show "-- End of Orders --" when a vehicle does not share orders.{}{}In most situations, shared orders are preferred over copied orders as it makes it easier to update the orders later in the game.{}{}Close the orders window using the cross.
STR_TRUCKS_4_7_9_START_CLONE :Start your second cloned lorry from its vehicle window.

STR_TRUCKS_4_8_1_CONCLUSION :You have now completed the Lorries Chapter.{}{}If you would like to practise your new skills, you could try adding some more lorries to your current route. # --- Buses Chapter ------------

STR_BUSES_5_1_1_INTRO :Buses - Town Growth{}{}During this chapter, you will learn about both town growth and building a bus route.{}{}When you click on continue, the main viewport will move to {GOLD}{TOWN}{BLACK} where you will be building your bus route.

STR_BUSES_5_1_2_GROWTH_INFO :In OpenTTD, towns will typically grow slowly on their own. However, it is possible to accelerate town growth by meeting two separate requirements. The first of these is that there are four stations within the town that are serviced at least once every two months. The bus route you build will aim to fulfil this requirement.
STR_BUSES_5_1_3_GROWTH_INFO :The second requirement is the delivery of a certain amount of a specific cargo each month. The cargo that you must deliver depends on the climate setting of your game. In the Temperate climate (which this tutorial is set in) and the Toyland climate, there are no cargoes that you need to deliver for accelerated town growth to occur. However, in the Arctic climate, towns above the snowline require food for accelerated town growth to occur. In the Tropical climate, towns in the desert require both water and food for accelerated town growth to occur. Note that supplying these cargoes in the respective climates will not increase the rate of town growth, only allow the accelerated town growth to occur.{}{}It is very easy to work out what you must do to help a town grow. Click on the town name for {GOLD}{TOWN}{BLACK} to open the town window.
STR_BUSES_5_1_4_TOWN_VIEW :This window displays some details of the town, including its name, population, and the amount of passengers and mail produced by the town, both over the last month and at the maximum production rate. The window also displays what the town needs to grow and whether or not the town is growing. Note that the information shown in this window is only updated once or twice during a game month.

STR_BUSES_5_2_1_BUS_STATION :Buses - Bus Stations{}{}You're now going to build your first bus route. This will consist of four bus stations that passengers move between. This should be enough for the accelerated growth of the town to occur. Open up the "Road Construction" toolbar by clicking the highlighted button on the main toolbar.
STR_BUSES_5_2_2_BUS_STATION :Click on the highlighted "Bus Station Construction" button. When this window opens, you should notice that the window is very similar to the "Lorry Station" window - there are again four orientations of bay stations and two orientations of drive-through stations.
STR_BUSES_5_2_3_BUILD :Now, build four bus stops in {GOLD}{TOWN}{BLACK}. Try to build them in different parts of the town in order to get the best possible coverage. You can build either drive-through stations or bay stations. However, remember that drive-through stations can be placed on existing roads and are subsequently cheaper to build. If you're not sure that your buses will be able to travel between any of your four stops, build some roads to connect them.

# in or near = within 20 Manhattan-tiles from the town centre
STR_BUSES_5_3_1_DEPOT :Buses - Road Vehicle Depots{}{}You now need to build a road vehicle depot in, or near, the town. This is done in the same way as during the Lorries section of the tutorial, so no buttons will be highlighted this time. If needed, build some more roads to connect the entrance of your depot to the rest of the road network.

STR_BUSES_5_4_1_ORDERS :Buses - Connecting the Bus Stations (1 of 2){}{}Now select the road vehicle depot, and from it build a bus. Give your bus the orders to go to {YELLOW}{STATION}{BLACK} and {YELLOW}{STATION}{BLACK}. Do not use the Full Load order or any other order modifiers.
STR_BUSES_5_4_2_START :Start your bus by clicking the large horizontal button in the vehicle window.

STR_BUSES_5_5_1_ORDERS :Buses - Connecting the Bus Stations (2 of 2){}{}Repeat the previous step - select the road vehicle depot and build a second bus. However, give your second bus the orders to go to {YELLOW}{STATION}{BLACK} and {YELLOW}{STATION}{BLACK}. Again, do not use the Full Load order or any other order modifiers.
STR_BUSES_5_5_2_START :Start your second bus by clicking the large horizontal button in the vehicle window.

STR_BUSES_5_6_1_CLONE :Buses - Cloning{}{}You may remember that accelerated town growth requires four stations which are serviced at least once every two months. This can be quite difficult to achieve with only two buses. You should therefore clone both buses so that there are more vehicles travelling the routes. {}{}Clone the buses in the same way that you cloned the lorry during the lorry chapter. First, click on the depot to open the depot window if it is not already open. Then, click on the "Clone Vehicle" button. Click on one of your original buses in the game to clone it. Finally, start your cloned bus by clicking on the large horizontal button at the bottom of the vehicle window. Repeat this process for the other bus route. Remember that you can create buses with shared orders if you hold down the CTRL key while cloning.

STR_BUSES_5_7_1_CONCLUSION :Buses - Conclusion{}{}For the tutorial to continue, {GOLD}{TOWN}{BLACK} must grow to a certain population. You can hold the TAB key to enable fast-forward until the town population has reached {NUM}.{}{}You may notice that during town growth, the population briefly drops by a small amount. This is due to the town destroying smaller buildings in the centre of town so that it can build bigger ones in their place.
STR_BUSES_5_7_2_CONCLUSION :Congratulations! You have grown the town's population from {NUM} to {NUM}.
STR_BUSES_5_7_3_CONCLUSION :You have now completed the Buses Chapter.{}{}If you would like to practise your new skills, you could try adding some more buses to your current route, or using the skills learnt in both the Lorries and Buses chapters to connect {GOLD}{TOWN}{BLACK} to {GOLD}{TOWN}{BLACK}. When you feel ready to continue with this tutorial, either click on "Continue" or close this window and all other windows by pressing the DELETE button on your keyboard.

# --- RAILWAY Chapter ------------

STR_TRAINS_6_1_1_INTRO :Railway {}{}In this section you will learn about trains in OpenTTD. {}On routes where there are more than one train you can use signaling. More complex lines can be extended on two track junctionary to be able to handle a greater movement. Waypoints served as an additional rail control

STR_TRAINS_6_1_2_SIGNALS_OPEN :Railways - signals {}{} Now click on the highlighted "Display Rail Construction" button, and next 'Signals'
STR_TRAINS_6_1_3_SIGNALS_INFO :Railway signaling {}{} In this toolbar there are semaphores and lights, how to use during the intersections . When you click on continue, the main viewport will move to the Coal Mine. {}{}Close the window using the cross

STR_TRAINS_6_1_6_FROM_MINE :You will be transporting the Coal from this Coal Mine ...
STR_TRAINS_6_1_7_TO_THIS_POWER :...to this Power Plant.{}{}If you zoom out, you will be able to see the coal mine in the bottom left corner of your screen.

STR_TRAINS_6_2_1_BUILD_STATIONS_INFO :Railway - Rail Stations{}{}To transport coal from the coal mine to the power plant, you will need to build two stations - one near the coal mine where your vehicles will collect the coal, and one in the power plant where the coal will be delivered. You will build the station in the power plant first.{}{}Select the "Rail Construction" toolbar using the highlighted button on the main toolbar.
STR_TRAINS_6_2_2_BUILD_TRAIN_STATION :Select the "Build Rail Station" tool using the highlighted button.
STR_TRAINS_6_2_3_BUILD_ON_TOP :In the new window, you may notice that there are different types of rail stations - one which comes in different varieties and one which comes in two different orientations and is highlighted. This highlighted type is a drive-through station, and differs from the other type in that it allows Railway with trailers and can be built on an existing rail. {}{}Build a unloading station on one of the existing embankment closer {GOLD}{INDUSTRY}{BLACK} by selecting one of the orientations and clicking in an appropriate place. Make sure that the orientation of the station is the same as the route you are building it on, and that the station accepts coal.

STR_TRAINS_6_3_1_COAL_MINE_STATION :You now need to build another train station near the Coal Mine where your vehicles will be able to collect the coal. At other times, you should try build type of train stations, called a multi platforms station. Ensure that the Coal Mine is within the catchment area of your new station.
STR_TRAINS_6_3_2_BUILD_TRAIN_STATION :Select the "Build train Station" tool using the highlighted button.
STR_TRAINS_6_3_3_BUILD_TRAIN_STATION2 :One may select of the highlighted. Can set the cursor on the grids in a straight line to the previous station. Click on the ground to build it.

STR_TRAINS_6_4_1_RAIL_INFO :Railway - Rail Construction{}{}Now that you have built your train stations, you need to build a rail that will connect them. Unlike other vehicles, rail vehicles are able to travel on any rail, regardless of the rail owner. This means that you will only need to connect your train station by the Coal Mine with the power plant rails.{}{}Click on the highlighted "Rail Construction" button on the main toolbar.
STR_TRAINS_6_4_2_RAIL :Click on the highlighted "Simple tracks" tool .
STR_TRAINS_6_4_3_CONNECT_RAIL :rail is built by clicking and holding with the left mouse button at your desired start point -e.g.at station-, then dragging to your desired end point and releasing the mouse button there. rail can only be dragged in straight lines, so you may have to build several sections to connect your train station to the power plant's rails. Build a rail which connects the power plant's rails with your train station.

STR_TRAINS_6_5_1_RAIL_DEPOT :Railway - rail Vehicle Depots{}{}Similarly to buses, you have to build a separate rail vehicle depot to allow you to buy rail vehicles.{}{}Click on the highlighted button, then click near the Coal Mine to build your rail depot. If you build it with the entrance facing a rail, it will be automatically connected to the rail. If it is not connected to the rail, you will need to use the “Auto-rail” tool to connect the depot to the rail, ensuring that you connect the rail to the entrance.{}{}The tutorial will continue automatically when you have built a depot within a 10 tile radius of the coal mine train station and connected it to the rail so that the train station can be reached by any rail vehicles travelling from the depot.
STR_TRAINS_6_5_2_BUILD_DEPOT :Position the train depot on the embankment near to the station. However, make sure that you do not block the station with the depot. This time one can click on the field adjacent to the station where the end of the track to build a train depot.

STR_TRAINS_6_6_1_VEHICLES_INFO :Railway - Buying a train{}{}You have now built the necessary infrastructure for your transport route. You now need to buy your first train.{}{}If you have the rail building tool active, disable it by hitting the ESCAPE key, then click on the rail vehicle depot to open the depot window.
STR_TRAINS_6_6_2_BUILD_VEHICLE :Click on the highlighted button.
STR_TRAINS_6_6_3_BUILD_TRAIN :Select and buy a wagon & locomotive that can transport coal. The {ENGINE} is a suitable vehicle.
STR_TRAINS_6_6_4_ORDERS :You now need to assign your train its orders. As with the second ship, the buttons will not be highlighted during this process. Ensure that your train is set to "Full Load" at {YELLOW}{STATION}{BLACK}.{}{}Tip: If you hold the CTRL key while assigning a go to station order, it will automatically set full load for that order.
STR_TRAINS_6_6_5_START_TRAIN :You can now close the order window.{}{}As before with other vehicles, having given your train its orders, you should start it using the large horizontal button in the vehicle window.

STR_TRAINS_6_7_1_JUNCTION :Trains & Junctions ... {} to be continued

STR_TRAINS_6_8_1_CONCLUSION :You have now completed the Trains Chapter.{}{}If you would like to practise your new skills, you could try adding some more lorries to your current route.
